Major motorcycle events put off -- blame the economy

It's called the Legend of the Motorcycle, an annual concours d'elegance that was created three years ago as kind of a two-wheel version of the Pebble Beach automobile concours.

It takes place on the lawn of the Ritz Carlton Hotel down in Half Moon Bay and it attracts the cream of the cycle crop -- MV Agustas, Vincents, Velocettes and the like.

This year's version has been postponed because of "the effect the world economy has had on many sponsors," the concours's organizers said in a statement. But the exhibition is scheduled to resume in 2010.
